Paul is an experienced open data leader, having had a variety of roles over 5 years with the Province of Ontario’s Open Government Office and the Ontario Digital Service.

As the lead for including open data principles into Ontario’s Simpler, Faster, Better Services Act, Paul was integral in the development and adoption of Canada’s first open data law. He also led the adoption of the International Open Data Charter by Ontario and the rollout of Ontario’s Open Data Directive. He co-drafted Ontario’s API Guidelines and laid policy groundwork for Ontario to start releasing open source software on GitHub.

He’s been an active contributor and leader in the open data community, including the Canadian Open Data Summit steering committee and the GO Open Data (GOOD) conference planning and program committees. He also chaired the Public Sector Open Data (PSOD) committee in Ontario.
